My advice is to work at a couple of internships before landing a long-term job. I personally found this to be very beneficial in my job search. Having some experience is not only a good resume and skill builder but it also helps you understand what kind of work environment you want to work in.
Many companies, whether they’re big or small, look at interns throughout the year. They’re looking for someone who has entry-level skills and are really willing to coach the person to do well at their job. Another advantage of an internship is that you can decide whether you enjoy your internship tasks, work environment, and workflow. Some people may enjoy working faster and with little supervision, but some other people may enjoy the opposite. There’s not really a right or wrong answer. You just need to try. It’s up to you to decide where you see yourself fitting best in the long-term and internships are a good place to test that out.
